See county-by-county rankings for highest income in every New Jersey town based on the latest U.S. Census data.
New Jersey has the highest median household income in the nation at $96,346, the latest Census data shows. That’s more than $21,000 higher than the national median income.
But within the state, there’s some wide swings in median incomes with much of highest earning towns concentrated in northern New Jersey. Five towns in the state have median household incomes so high that the Census stops counting and just lists them as $250,000+.
Here’s a list of the highest median income town in each of New Jersey’s 21 counties based on the Census data for 2022, the most recent available figures. Follow the links to full rankings of the towns in every county in the state.
A note about the data: The Census defines a household as any group of people who share a residence, and could include married couples, multi-generational families, or groups of roommates.
