Feb. 20—NEW YORK, N.Y. — The HELP program, developed by the State Department of Civil Service helps New York State agencies fill vital positions in direct care, health, and safety, ensuring basic needs are met for New Yorkers.
In the past, candidates for job positions under the HELP Program had to take competitive exams to qualify for the jobs.
Since its launch in April 2023 to address workforce needs statewide, the program offers job seekers opportunities to start a career with the state without taking a test — streamlining the hiring process for diverse, qualified permanent employees.
According to the New York State Department of Civil Service, at the end of the HELP program in April 2024, employees hired for HELP positions will transition into the competitive class seamlessly, without additional examinations, ensuring that they can continue their state careers permanently.
