Ukraine's Foreign Ministry calls Zelenskyy's wanted list evidence of Russia's desperation

Putting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the wanted list by the Russian Interior Ministry is “evidence of the desperation” of the Russian state machine, states the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

“Russian reports about the Russian Interior Ministry’s alleged announcement that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is wanted are evidence of the desperation of the Russian state machine and propaganda, which do not know what other newsworthy reason to invent to attract attention,” the Ukrainian ministry said in a statement.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reminded that, unlike “worthless Russian announcements,” the International Criminal Court’s warrant for the arrest of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is quite real and is enforceable in 123 countries.

Zelenskyy put on the wanted list in Russia

Today, on May 4, Russian media reported, citing data from the Russian Interior Ministry’s database, that Zelenskyy was put on the Russian wanted list. The reason for the wanted list was allegedly a criminal case against the Ukrainian president. In a commentary to RBC-Ukraine, presidential spokesperson Serhiy Nykyforov advised Russians to look for common sense first.

Prior to that, the Russians put military commanders Valerii Zaluzhnyi and Oleksandr Syrskyi, as well as the head of the SSU Vasyl Maliuk, on the wanted list.

The judge of the International Criminal Court who issued the arrest warrant for Putin is also on the Russian wanted list.
