On Tuesday morning, it was announced that former top-ranked safety Jacoby Mathews was leaving Texas A&M and entering the transfer portal.
The 2022 five-star recruit out of Ponchatoula, Louisiana was the 70th-ranked player in his class and a top-ten safety.
The 6’2, 215-pound sophomore has narrowed his list down to five schools, with two schools being the frontrunners. Those top two schools are the Oregon Ducks and Florida State Seminoles.
Mathews is also considering the Colorado Buffaloes, Ohio State Buckeyes, and USC Trojans.
Adam Gorney of Yahoo Sports posted the news on social media. “Been told Oregon and Florida State are two to watch here but three other programs are seriously involved with former five-star S Jacoby Mathews as well.”
In Mathews two-year career at Texas A&M, he tallied 66 tackles, 1 interception, and 7 pass breakups.
