Bývalý prezident USA Donald Trump ve čtvrtek vyzval Evropu, aby poskytla Ukrajině více finanční pomoci.

Tato výzva přišla pár dní před tím, než američtí zákonodárci měli hlasovat o dlouho očekávaném balíku pomoci ve výši 61 miliard dolarů pro Ukrajinu, která čelí ruské agresi a válečnému konfliktu.

Na svém vlastním sociálním médiu Truth Social Trump zdůraznil, že přežití a síla Ukrajiny jsou důležité nejen pro Evropu, ale i pro Spojené státy. Trump, ačkoli již není prezidentem, stále má vliv na mnoho republikánů ve Washingtonu, kteří váhají s poskytnutím další vojenské pomoci Kyjevu, přičemž dávají přednost boji proti nelegální imigraci na mexických hranicích.

Situace mezi demokraty a republikány zablokovala poskytnutí potřebné munice a obranných systémů Ukrajině, což ji oslabuje v konfliktu s Ruskem.

Trump, který bude v listopadu soupeřit s prezidentem Joem Bidenem o Bílý dům, dále otázal, proč Spojené státy poskytly Ukrajině více než 100 miliard dolarů, zatímco Evropa zaostává. To vzbudilo debatu o rozdělení finanční zátěže mezi Spojené státy a Evropu ohledně pomoci Ukrajině.

Sněmovna reprezentantů USA má v plánu hlasovat o novém balíku vojenské pomoci, který by uvolnil miliardy dolarů pro Ukrajinu, Izrael a Tchaj-wan. Prezident Biden naléhá na Kongres, aby balík schválil, a slíbil, že jej podepíše ihned poté.

Trump v minulosti vyvolal obavy v Evropě, když v únoru hrozil, že zruší bezpečnostní záruky pro členy NATO, pokud podle něj nebudou dostatečně přispívat finančně do Aliance.
