Tropical cyclone likely to enter PH this week
MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said a tropical cyclone may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) later this week.
“The weather disturbance, which was predicted to enter PAR this weekend, would likely affect some areas in Mindanao,” weather specialist Rhea Torres said.
In the meantime, most areas will continue to swelter, although Pagasa was hopeful that the hottest daytime temperature recorded at 40.3 degrees Celsius in Tarlac on April 27, 2024, will no longer be repeated.
The city of Tuguegarao will have an air temperature of 39 degrees Celsius possibly until Wednesday while Metro Manila will have 36 degrees Celsius, Torres said.
The weather bureau said a high heat index between 42 and 48 degrees Celsius could still prevail in many areas in the coming days.
On Monday, the heat index in Clark, Pampanga hit 50 degrees.
The past four days, the reading from the Clark International Airport ranged from 39°C to 41°C.
Dagupan, Pangasinan recorded 47°C.
Pasay City and Quezon City felt the heat at 43°C and 42°C, respectively.
La Trinidad, Benguet was the lone area with a below-caution index at 26°C while Baguio City was at a “hotter” 28°C.
Muñoz, Nueva Ecija had the highest actual temperature of 39.8°C while Tuguegarao City, Cagayan was at 39°C.
