Three people have been hospitalised following an early morning aggravated burglary that took place at a house in Cork city.

The shocking incident took place around 6am on Wednesday morning at a property on Millerd Street, which resulted in a sum of cash being stolen and three occupants of the house being rushed to hospital.

The occupants, two women and a man, were taken to Cork University Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment for injuries which are understood to be serious but not life-threatening.

No arrests have yet been made but gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to make contact with authorities.

A garda spokesperson told CorkBeo: “Gardaí in Cork are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary on Millerd Street in Cork which occurred at approximately 6am this morning, Wednesday, 17 April”.

“Three occupants in the house, two women and a man, were injured during the incident. They were taken to Cork University Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment for injuries which are understood to be serious but not life-threatening.

“A sum of cash was also reported stolen. A technical examination of the scene is due to place later this morning.

“No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing. Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have any information to contact them at Bridewell Garda Station in Cork on 021 494 3330.”
