Former New York Mets slugger Daniel Vogelbach agreed to a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, per a report from Fansided’s Robert Murray.

Later, the New York Post reported that it was a minor-league deal with an invitation to the Blue Jays’ Major League camp in Dunedin, Fla.

Vogelbach was one of a raft of Mets that were non-tendered in November, meaning the Mets were not willing to tender them a Major League deal for 2024. That allowed Vogelbach to explore free agency.

Vogelbach was arbitration-eligible at the time and was expected to get a deal in the neighborhood of $2.6 million, per MLB Trade Rumors.

The decision was made by the Mets’ new management team, led by president of baseball operations David Stearns.

With the Mets in 2023, he played in 104 games and slashed .233/.339/.404/.742 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI. He was with the Mets starting in 2022, when he joined the team in midseason from Pittsburgh.

With the Mets in 2022 he slashed .255/.393/.436/.830 with six home runs and 25 RBI.

He has a career batting average of .220 with 80 home runs and 238 RBI.

Vogelbach broke in with the Seattle Mariners in 2016 and played parts of three seasons for the Mariners before emerging as an All-Star in 2019 with a slash line of .208/.341/.439.780 with 30 home runs and 76 RBI.

He hasn’t approached those numbers since. He departed the Mariners in 2020 and played with the Toronto Blue Jays (2020), the Milwaukee Brewers (2020-21) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (2022).
