That’s not exactly rocket science. His stature, calibre, charisma and track record speak for themselves. What we also know, however, is that the 58-year-old has different priorities right now. Shortlist?

Take your pick from the myriad names mentioned as potential candidates to become the next Kaizer Chiefs boss. First, there were a couple of Brazilians Alex Gallo and Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Then an Iberian duo came into contention; Spaniard Raul Caneda and the Portuguese former Benfica, Spartak Moscow, Al Nassr and Egypt manager Rui Vitoria. Local names Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi are there too, of course. We’ve even forgotten about Nasreddine Nabi who ‘came close’ to becoming the boss at the start of this season. The club’s board desperately need to make the right appointment next time, but there’s no guarantee that the new coach will come from this list of names. To be honest, nobody knows the truth.
