Set over a period of 16 years, the six-part series follows Jack, played by Gleeson, who is happily married to Lynn, before a phone call from his ex, Alice, played by Andrea Riseborough, turns their lives upside down.
In the clip, Aisling and Domhnall are a happily-married couple as she comes out of a house holding their new baby and a ringing phone. She hands the phone out to Domhnall, who is BBQing some meat, and casually asks, ‘Who’s Alice?’, with Domhnall replying, ‘She’s an ex’.
Domhnall decides not to answer the call and leans down to talk to the baby, saying: ‘Our exes are exes for a reason.’

However, despite him rejecting Alice’s call from the past in that clip, the trailer reveals that he must eventually reconnect with his ex, Alice, disrupting his happy family life and making Lynn the casualty of their relationship.
Explaining her character, Aisling said: ‘Lynn is one of those, “not all heroes wear capes”, type of characters. She is someone a lot of people will identify with in that sad place of knowing you were second place and just weren’t magical enough for that person.
‘But the way I stay held in his life means there was a long-term magic about her and who she was to Domhnall’s character and their relationship.’
Andrea Riseborough and Domhnall play ex-lovers in Alice and Jack
The series synopsis of Alice & Jack reads: ‘Alice & Jack is a love story for the ages. When Alice (Andrea Riseborough) and Jack (Domhnall Gleeson) first meet they’re bound by a connection so powerful it seems nothing can break it, but will their path lead them to a place of happiness and togetherness?
‘Or will life and their own emotional complexities get in the way? Honest, intimate, and surprisingly funny, the series shows love in all its unexpected, technicolour, kaleidoscopic beauty.’
