A new study has found that certain personality traits can predict dementia
A new study has found that certain personality traits can make people more likely to be diagnosed with dementia in later life.
There are a number of things that can increase your chances of being diagnosed with dementia, including things you can eat, drink or not drink that make you more at risk.
A new study has found that there are also certain ways you can live your life that can increase or reduce your chances of being diagnosed with dementia.
A National Institute of Aging-funded study found that “conscientiousness, extraversion, and positive affect were associated with a lower risk for dementia”.
Meanwhile, “neuroticism and negative affect” were associated with an increased risk of being diagnosed with dementia in later life.
While many may take from this that beeing happier is all it will take to lower your chance of getting dementia, it’s not as simple as this.
There are dozens of other things at play, including genetics and other things out of control. On top of that, having a good relationship with alcohol and a good sleeping routine also reduces your chances.
However, this information is valuable as there remains no cure for dementia, and the more we know about it the better.
