Spring to finally arrive with temperatures set to hit 18C as Met Éireann reveals how long sunshine will last

The whole country will enjoy sunshine this weekend with temperatures reaching even 18 degrees in some parts, Met Éireann has said.

Any isolated patches of mist and fog will quickly clear this morning to leave a dry day with plenty of sunshine, the national forecaster has said.

Meanwhile, sunshine might turn hazy at times due to high cloud.

Today, the west will enjoy the warmest weather, with light variable breezes, while it will be a bit cooler in some coastal areas due to sea breezes developing.

Temperatures will range from 13 to 17 degrees across the country.

Tonight will be dry and mainly clear. However, the night might bring a little cloud and the chance of a few isolated patches of mist and fog.

Temperatures will drop to only 1 to 5 degrees in near-calm conditions tonight.

Sunday will be another dry day with lots of sunshine and temperatures ranging from 14 to 18 degrees. There might only be a little cloud in places at times.

The west will remain the warmest, with light breezes, while it’ll still be a little cooler in some coastal parts with sea breezes, especially the eastern coast.

Sunday night will remain dry with long clear spells, however it might turn cloudier in Ulster and Leinster.

Temperatures will drop to between 3 and 6 degrees, with light breezes, as a few isolated mist and fog patches develop.

Monday will be another sunny day, with dry conditions and long spells of sunshine.

Ulster and north Connacht will see temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees, but 14 to 17 or 18 degrees will range elsewhere, with light winds.

Met Éireann has said high pressure is centred over Ireland this weekend.

It is expected to shift to the northwest early next week and will continue to dominate until at least midweek – with dry conditions and temperatures slightly dropping.

The second half of the week will turn unsettled, the national forecaster has said.
