Spanish roasting house Asador Alfonso in Cavite opens doors on May 17

There’s a new kid on the restaurant block.
Check out Asador Alfonso, the Spanish roasting house that is the brainchild of architect Carlo Calma and chef Chele Gonzalez of award-winning Gallery By Chele.
Located over 70 kilometers away from Manila in Alfonso, Cavite, the restaurant pays tribute to the town’s namesake, King Alfonso XII of Spain, and brings out the best of Calma and Gonzalez’s strengths and longstanding collaboration.
Asador Alfonso is situated in a 9.4-hectare farm and leisure development known as “The Lava Rock,” a passion project of the Calma family.
The stark-white concrete and glass structure realizes Calma’s architectural vision, taking inspiration from the Taal volcano’s topography with its cantilevered folds that help protect visitors from the sweltering heat. Guests can also take a dip in the pool outside the restaurant.
Meanwhile, co-owner Gonzalez flexes his gastronomic wizardry in Asador Alfonso’s menu, where traditional and ancestral-style cooking rooted in the Castilla region of Spain take centerstage.
Guests can look forward to Segovian dishes with a contemporary flair, whipped up by chef Rodrigo Osorio and his team, while maitre Irene Fernandez ensures the top-notch presentation of each dish and that guests’ every need are attended to.
