Injury update on Ozzie Albies
Despite being down three All-Stars, the Braves continue to string together victories.
Last night, Atlanta topped the Texas Rangers to clinch the series, led by Charlie Morton on the bump. Chris Sale had another quality outing on Friday while the Braves’ offense was powered by Travis d’Arnaud and his three home runs.
The club continues to defy the odds. Despite being down three of the sport’s best players at their respective positions, the Braves are looking like the best team in baseball, and a reinforcement could be coming soon.
Spencer Strider is out for the year, but it was later revealed that his injury wasn’t a traditional UCL tear, which is a positive update. Sean Murphy is still a ways away from suiting back up, but the Braves could be welcoming Ozzie Albies back sooner rather than later.
Atlanta’s fun-loving second baseman is dealing with a toe injury, and Grant McAuley reported yesterday that he wasn’t in a walking boot, speculating that it could only be a couple of more weeks before we see Albies back in the lineup.
This is very promising news for the Atlanta Braves and Ozzie Albies.
It doesn’t seem like an injury that will keep him out too long, but the club is showing they’ve got enough talent to overcome a trio of injuries that would hobble most teams around the league.
The depth will continue to be tested, but the Braves and their fans have to be confident in what we’ve seen so far. With a series finale today, Atlanta has a chance to sweep the reigning World Series champions without Spencer Strider, Sean Murphy, and Ozzie Albies.
