Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss has discussed the potential for a Sherlock project, expressing his ongoing enthusiasm to bring the detective series back in a big way. Ideally, he wants the characters to reunite for a Sherlock reunion film.
Gatiss co-created the series with Steven Moffat and has previously voiced his ambition to adapt Sherlock into a movie, but emphasized that the right people need to be on board for it to happen. In a recent interview with Deadline, Palmer discussed the difficulty of getting the show’s stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman together to film due to their busy Hollywood schedules.

There’s Still Hope for a Sherlock Movie
In July 2023, Gatiss shared similar intentions to turn the show into a film when he told the Guardian that a Sherlock movie was “the natural thing to do” after the series concluded. Gatiss stated, “People think you can just wave a wand, But it’s incredibly challenging to garner interest and get films made. I recall speaking with Edgar Wright about Ant-Man, a project he invested eight years into and ultimately didn’t produce. Eight years is nearly a decade.”
