Seatbelt cameras coming to NSW from July 1
The New South Wales government has announced existing mobile phone detection cameras will be used to detect any motorist or passenger not wearing a seatbelt.

There has been 150 fatalities on New South Wales roads directly attributable to not wearing a seatbelt since 2019.
It has been a legal requirement in New South Wales to wear a seat belt for more than 50 years.
Revenue raised from the initiative will go back into road-safety measures.
The measure will take effect from July 1.
