Thursday’s attacks on Ukraine left around seven people injured, according to the authorities in Kyiv, Lviv, and the eastern city of Zaporizhzhia. The airstrike also caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

According to a report from CNBC, the Air Force of Ukraine claimed that it shot down 13 out of 26 missiles launched by Russia and added that the salvo included one Iskander ballistic missile and 10 cruise missiles.

Officials in Kyiv reported missiles approaching from “different directions” and air alerts sounding for two hours in the capital. No casualties have been reported in the region as of now.

However, in Zaporizhzhia, city council secretary Anatolii Kurtiev stated that at least four people had been injured and an infrastructure facility was damaged in Thursday’s missile strike. “It is also currently known that apartment buildings, an educational institution, and the premises of a trade facility were damaged,” Kurtiev said in a statement, according to CNN.

Shortly after, Russian authorities claimed that the retaliatory missile strike from Ukraine on Belgorod killed five people and injured 18, along with destroying seven homes in the region.

Belgorod regional governor Vyacheselv Gladkov reported the extent of the damage caused in his official Telegram channel:

“Destruction was detected in the village of Dubovoe – 4 private households, 3 apartment buildings, and 6 cars were damaged, in the village of Repnoye – one private household and 3 cars, in the village of Razumnoye – one apartment building, in the village of Shagarovka – 3 private households and one car, in the Tavrovo-1 micro district – one private house.”

“In the city of Belgorod, windows were broken in 128 apartments of 10 apartment buildings, various damage was detected in 15 private households, 34 cars were damaged by shrapnel,” Gladkov further noted.

“Four stores were also damaged, and there was destruction on the territory of one of the industrial enterprises… The door-to-door inspection of the territories continues,” he added in his detailed report.

Belgorod was also badly hit in Ukrainian drone strikes in December, as one of the attacks left 14 dead and over a hundred injured. Ukraine carried out the drone strike on December 30, with reports claiming at the time that the attack caused significant damage to the infrastructure of Russian cities on the border.

Although Russian officials claimed that their air defense systems managed to intercept and down 32 drones, they also said that the city of Belgorod, near the Russia-Ukraine border, suffered extensive damage and had multiple reports of injuries as a result of the airstrike.

It is worth noting that the latest fiery exchange between Russia and Ukraine came two days after Zelensky’s forces sank the Russian landing ship Caesar Kunikov using “MAGURA” V5 drones.

“At the time of the attack, the ship was in the territorial waters of Ukraine, near Alupka,” Ukraine’s defense ministry wrote on X alongside a nighttime video showing the explosion. “Black Sea fish will definitely like Caesar salad.”

Commenting on the reports of the successful Black Sea strike, President Zelensky said in his nightly address that Ukraine has increased security in the key marine corridor. “This is important. Step by step we will clear the Black Sea of Russian terrorist objects,” the President said, according to CNBC.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces told CNN on February 14 that the nation “has disabled a third of the Russian Black Sea Fleet during the large-scale invasion.” In total, Ukraine claims it has sunk 25 Russian ships and one submarine.
