The debut score has been unveiled for the new movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Ahead of the movie’s wide release in theaters, its early reviews from critics have landed the film a fresh score of 81% at Rotten Tomatoes.
For the most part, the reviews for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare are on the positive side. Many of the reviews acknowledge that the film is not without its flaws, but that its strong cast and entertaining action sequences still make for an enjoyable filmgoing experience. This is echoed in multiple reviews, though Sean Chandler of Sean Chandler Talks About stated, “While the film lacks depth, it makes up for it with style and energetic performances. Clearly, everyone who worked on the film was having an absolute blast. I had a good time with the film.”

‘It Should Be Gory’: Alan Ritchson’s New Action Film Wasn’t Violent Enough for the Reacher Star
The Reacher star advocated for more brutal violence in Guy Ritchies WWII action film.
“A slightly apocryphal historical remix, Ministry is Ritchie’s best film in a long time. It can’t claim to reinvent the wheel, as the director is still pretty comfortable in sticking with what works,” Lyvie Scott of Inverse noted in a review. Another review from Fred Topel for United Press International added, “Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare makes history fun. Whether it inspires viewers to learn more about Operation Postmaster, it at least informs them of the basics in a fun romp.”
Even Bad Reviews Praise the Cast
Meanwhile, the small handful of bad reviews are still complimentary toward the movie’s cast members, like Henry Cavill and Alan Ritchson. Grace Randolph said the two are “excellent” in the movie, but was disappointed that Eiza Gonzalez didn’t have more screen time, further describing the movie as a “very watered down version of Inglourious Basterds.” /Film’s Jeremy Mathai would also call the movie a “fun, yet forgettable step in the wrong direction,” giving it a middle-of-the-road score of 5/10.
