Map shows '36 global cities' that will be underwater first

Dublin, New York and Boston are among 36 global cities that could be underwater first because of rising sea levels. The Irish capital is one of the first cities in the world that could be submerged alongside nine others in the US.

If sea levels rise by 1.5 metres and it gets three degrees warmer, parts of Dublin and other big cities could be underwater. Hundreds of millions live in these 36 cities which are already experiencing increased levels of flooding.

Dublin is number 23 on the list. Some famous spots that could get really wet are North Bull Island, Great South Wall, and the EPIC Irish Emigration Museum.

New York City is number three after Tokyo, Japan and Mumbai, India. The Big Apple, which boasts a population of over 20 million, could see the 9/11 Memorial, Battery Park, Ellis Island and JFK and La Guardia Airport be drowned.

The Statue of Liberty in New York, Miami Beach in Florida, and Key West in Florida are also among nine popular tourist destinations set to be underwater first. San Francisco and Boston also join the cities in the top 20.
