PN man denies copying PH’s KKB manifesto
Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut unveiled his five-point manifesto for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election on Monday.
PETALING JAYA: Khairul Azhari Saut, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, has rejected claims that he copied the manifesto of his Pakatan Harapan (PH) opponent Pang Sock Tao.
Khairul said his manifesto was based on the grievances expressed by constituents seeking change in the area, Sinar Harian reported.
“No, this manifesto was the outcome of consultations with the grassroots. It reflects the concerns voiced by voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu,” he was quoted as saying.
On Tuesday, Buntong assemblyman M Thulsi Thivani claimed that the PN candidate’s manifesto closely resembled that of PH, and said that Pang had unveiled hers first.
Thulsi said Khairul should have launched his manifesto earlier if he had his own vision for the Selangor state constituency.
Pang and Khairul are in a four-cornered contest in the May 11 by-election, alongside Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.
Pang revealed her five-point manifesto last Saturday, focusing on economic revitalisation, infrastructure, environment and recreation, heritage and culture, as well as the people’s well-being.
She pledged to bolster economic activities through industrial development, nurture local tourism and promote entrepreneurship.
Khairul’s manifesto, launched on Monday, outlined development plans, environmental conservation efforts, economic revitalisation strategies, support for women and youths, and initiatives for minority groups.
He pledged to develop a blueprint for sustainable development to protect the area’s natural environment and position Kuala Kubu Baharu as an ecotourism hub.
