Cameron Munster has avoided surgery but will miss up to 10 weeks with a groin injury
Cameron Munster has avoided surgery and could be back for the finals but the Melbourne Storm star will miss Queensland’s State of Origin campaign with a groin injury.
Scans on Monday confirmed the news after Munster badly tore his adductor, having battled the injury all season, in Sunday’s win over Parramatta at Suncorp Stadium.
Storm football boss, Frank Ponissi, said the injury would need up to 10 weeks to heal, putting extra pressure on Storm’s playmaking sticks with halfback Jahrome Hughes also battling injury.
“Cameron had scans earlier today which showed a tear in the adductor tendon,” Ponissi said.
“Our club doctor sought independent medical advice and we decided to take the conservative approach through treatment and rehabilitation without the need for surgery.”

“While it is obviously disappointing for both Cameron and the club to be missing football at this stage of the season, we are confident this approach will give him the best chance of recovery in the long term.”
Munster has been pivotal for Queensland, winning the Wally Lewis Medal as the best player in the 2020 Origin series and he would be one of the first picked in coach Billy Slater’s team.
