Österreich gibt für Familien EU-weit am meisten aus, das besagt eine Studie des Joint Research Centre (JRC) der Europäischen Kommission.

Mit Unterstützungsleistungen in Höhe von zwölf Prozent des BIP liege Österreich auf Platz eins. Die Daten stammen aus 2019-2022, also noch bevor die Familienleistungen valorisiert wurden. Familienministerin Susanne Raab (ÖVP) sieht sich bestätigt: “Kein Land in der Europäischen Union unterstützt Familien so sehr wie Österreich.”

Die Studie untersuchte die Auswirkungen der Steuer- und Sozialleistungssysteme aller 27 EU-Staaten, konkret wurden die kinderabhängigen Geldleistungen in drei Kategorien untersucht: Leistungen für Familien mit Kindern, Ergänzungsleistungen im Rahmen von Arbeitslosen-, Wohn- oder Sozialhilfeleistungen und Maßnahmen, die Steuern für Eltern senken. Am anderen Ende der Skala befinden sich Spanien (4,1 Prozent), Griechenland (4 Prozent) und Irland (3,2 Prozent).

Die Studie bestätige, dass Österreichs Familienpolitik “mit einer Vielzahl von finanziellen sowie steuerlichen Maßnahmen Familien bestmöglich unterstützt und dieser Maßnahmenmix sehr erfolgreich ist” heißt es in einer Aussendung des Familienministeriums. Profitieren würden Familien besonders von der Anhebung des Familienbonus Plus, der Erhöhung des Kindermehrbetrages und der Inflationsanpassung aller Familienleistungen.
