With tons of names drawing attention from media members and fans alike, it’s easy to forget about the players who have been here and previously delivered for the Baltimore Orioles.

Of course, in this new “what have you done for me lately?” era, it’s common to see this take place, as the shiny object is the thing that is most alluring.

The Orioles are full of players who can generate excitement.

Returning players, young stars and elite prospects have headlined their Spring Training roster this year for a myriad of different reasons.

With huge internal and external expectations, Baltimore is hoping they can put together another magical season like last year and go on a deep playoff run in 2024.

To do that, they’re going to need consistent performances from their veteran players to supplement their rising stars.

As the Orioles are getting to work during Spring Training, one of their sluggers has stood out for his early production according to Roch Kubatko of MASN.

“Ryan Mountcastle lined a ‘double’ down the left field line. Mountcastle was having himself a day. Nothing for [Tyler] Wells to take personally. The Orioles’ first baseman drove a Mike Baumann pitch off the scoreboard in right-center, sending the ball back onto the field,” he reported.

This is a great sign for Baltimore.

After missing an uncharacteristic 30 games in 2023 compared to what he had done the previous two, the Orioles are hoping the vertigo and shoulder issues that plagued him throughout last season have been dealt with.

Ryan Mountcastle might have been well on his way to having the best offensive performance of his career if he hadn’t missed a bevvy of games due to these injuries.

He finished with a slash line of .270/.328/.482, 18 home runs, 68 RBI and an OPS+ of 117.

If he can continue to rake in Spring Training and carry that into the regular season, this lineup can become even scarier than it appears on paper.
