New Olympic funding to benefit Aussie athletes
Marissa Williams and Pullman is preparing for Paris where she become Australia’s first indigenous female boxer to fight at the Olympics. Just can’t wait to just go for the first punch to land really in the games to focus on training. The 22 year olds had to quit her job, but a $5000 payment will help take some of the pressure off. Honestly, just every penny counts at the moment with training and making sure I’m eating the right food. The money will be offered to indigenous athletes like Marissa and 21 year old Callum Peters. Says the funds will help him reach peak form. So I would use it for travelling in Australia for some sparring rounds with some prose amateurs like just trying to just try and get some more experience before I head off to Paris. The initiative announced today by the Australian Olympic Committee. As it works to increase the number of First Nations athletes by Brisbane 2032. It really just gives them recognition that we value them and that’s that’s important. While Indigenous Australians have delivered some of our greatest ever Olympic moments, they remain under represented in our Olympic team, Just 10 of the 460 odd athletes heading to Paris. Are expected to be eligible. Grateful that the AOC has put this forward. It is a start and you know every every dollar does count for these athletes in their preparation to Paris for the first time, high net worth philanthropists as well as everyday Aussies are also being asked to dig deep. They’ll be able to give tax deductible donations that will go directly to our Olympic athletes. We want everybody who takes some joy out of watching an athlete to say, hey, maybe we can help them be there in LA 28. Maybe we can help them be there in Brisbane 2032 Kate Creedon 9 News.
