The Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed running back help for Rachaad White and they got it in the fourth round with Oregon’s Bucky Irving now the newest member of the unit.
With the Buccaneers not having a running back go past 1,000 yards and only averaging 90.4 rush yards per game last season (second-worst in the NFL), the offense needed help.
It gets it with Irving.
In his two seasons with Oregon, Irving rushed for 2,238 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also being an option in the pass game, catching 87 passes for 712 yards and five touchdowns.
And he’s ready to bring that production to Tampa Bay.
“I’m a smaller guy so I always have people talking about my size,” Brooks said to the media. “So I pretty much always have a chip on my shoulder. I don’t let the first man bring me down, that’s just the mindset I got when I got the ball in my hand. I’m also always trying to make the crowd go crazy, so I’m trying to make somebody miss every time I got the ball in my hands.”

In Irving, the Bucs are getting a running back who can be just as effective running the football as he is catching it. He will also offer a good change-up for White and fellow back Chase Edmonds.
Perhaps Irving’s biggest strength is his vision and the ability to find a hole and dash through it to pick up important yards, which as a rotational back, could prove useful for Tampa Bay’s offense.
Don’t expect Irving to have 20+ carries out of the backfield, a feat he only managed once all last season.
Instead, Irving will be a good backup option for White and will look to help the dour Buccaneers running game and improve their poor output from last season.
Something he seems hellbent on doing.
