- Do YOU know who owns the £60million superyacht? Email: [email protected]
It’s long been known as a millionaire’s playground but the well-heeled residents of Sandbanks in Dorset may have met their match depending on the identity of their new neighbour.
Yesterday, a mysterious £60million superyacht complete with its own helipad, beach club and swimming pool arrived in the county but its super-rich owner remains a mystery.
Promise D, a 213ft long luxury vessel made by Dutch boatbuilder Feadship has arrived in the harbour but is unclear who it belongs to and the purpose of its visit, although there is speculation it may be owned by an international businessman as there is a Cayman Islands flag on it.
The new-build 1,800 tonnes yacht, which had successful sea trials in December, has a sheltered foredeck, large helipad on her upper deck, a fold-down beach club and swimming pool.
Poole Harbour Port Authority said they did not know who the yacht’s owner is as they dealt with an agent, but it is due to stay for a week before departing on February 27.

Poole Harbour, the largest natural harbour in Europe, has become a popular destination for superyachts in recent years.
Harbour master Captain Brian Murphy said in 2022: ‘This is very much a growth market and Poole Harbour is fast becoming the UK’s number one destination for superyachts.
‘It is great news for the local economy with all of the superyachts using local shops for storing of provisions and essential items and local marine repair companies for any maintenance requirements.
‘In recent years, as part of decarbonisation, we have introduced shore power facilities for superyachts.’

Poole Harbour, which is 38sq kms, is the second-largest natural harbour in the world after Sydney.
There are 1.25 million tons of cargo, 400,000 passengers and over 5,000 commercial shipping movements every year.
At its entrance is the well-heeled peninsula of Sandbanks, whose famous residents include former football managers Harry Redknapp and Graeme Souness and the computer magnate Sir Peter Ogden.
