Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man went on a “total rampage” in a premium gym in north Dublin on Sunday night.
The suspect destroyed property at the West Wood Club in Clontarf, Dublin 3 at around 11pm on February 18 – but thankfully no members were on the premises.
According to the Irish Mirror, the man smashed a pane of glass at the gym’s reception before kicking and breaking one of the barrier gates that permit members entry.
He then proceeded to go up the stairs, where he punched a number of TVs that were mounted to a wall before breaking into an office near the tennis court and causing more damage.
A source told the publication: “No members were in the club at the time because it closes earlier on a Sunday.
“The staff who were closing up were in total shock. He went on a total rampage.
“The reception area has only recently been renovated so it’s a shame it has been damaged already.”
A garda spokesperson confirmed they were investigating an incident of “criminal damage” at the popular gym.
“No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing,” they said.
