First and foremost: I won’t spoil anything, don’t you worry.
Expanding the MonsterVerse was a brillant idea, I’ve gotta say: thanks to Godzilla vs. Kong, fans have been blessed with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on Apple TV+.
Fifteen years after the original Godzilla re-emerged and did his thing, Cate Randa’s journey to Japan in order to settle her father’s affairs turns out way different than anyone could have suspected: not only does she have a half-brother, there’s the Titan monitoring organization Monarch connected to her father – all that needs investigation.
And now, one season later, fans can stop worrying: the show has officially been renewed!
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 | When Will Godzilla Return?
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was a huge success, so Apple TV+ gave the greenlight for a second season.
That tracks: lots of crew members showed hope to The Direct and spilled the beans on the plans, even before the renewal was official: “Well, it wasn’t designed as a limited series,” executive producer Matt Fraction told them. “We could keep going as long as people want to keep watching.”
And he’s not the only one: showrunner Chris Black shares the sentiment that “it’s kind of really up to the viewers” and he’d like to go on for “two seasons, three seasons – whatever we’re lucky enough to get.” But, as it often is in the entertainment biz, it’s less a question of luck and more of profit. Seems like Apple was satisfied!
When exactly Monarch’s Season 2 will hit the streaming service is anyone’s guess at this point, though. A show like that usually takes quite some time, so we’re guessing that a release in late 2025 is reasonable.
The Monarch Cast Has High Hopes For Season 2

The present day cast, Anna Sawai (Cate Randa), Ren Watabe (Kentaro Randa) and Kiersey Clemons (May) sat down with Collider before the finale aired, sharing their hopes for season 2 – I bet they’re more than happy with the renewal!
Watabe and Clemons both said they’d like to “jump into new terrain” in a possible second season – I see what you did there. Clever wording. Hopefully, they will be doing just that.
Their co-star Anna Sawai put one big thing into words as well:
“I feel like in the first season we were kind of searching for answers a lot of the time, kind of lost. We’re not really doing too much but finding, going to search for things, so I kind of want us to start something.”
Sounds like someone’s eager to prove themselves. And now it’s official that they’ll get to do just that in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2! We’ll keep you updated on that, as always.
