Matthew Adams contract details: New York Giants LB signs $1.3M deal
The New York Giants added some depth to the middle of the defense and the special teams unit by signing linebacker Matthew Adams last week. Now, we have the contract details of that deal.
Adams is mostly a special teams leader who can provide some depth at linebacker in a pinch behind starters Bobby Okereke and Micah McFadden. His value comes mostly from providing production and leadership on special teams.

Matthew Adams Contract Details
The Giants signed Adams in free agency to a one-year deal worth $1.2 million. The deal includes $967,000 and is a veteran salary benefit (VSB) offer sheet. This means there is a good chance Adams makes the roster when cuts are made at the end of August.
Adams spent four seasons with the Colts as a seventh-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He then joined the Chicago Bears in 2022 and spent the 2023 season with the Cleveland Browns.
In 85 games (13 starts), Adams has recorded 98 tackles (68 solo) and eight tackles for loss. He’s averaged 290.3 special teams snaps per season.
Matthew Adams Salary Cap Hit
Because Adams signed a VSB offer sheet, his salary-cap hit for the 2024 season will be $1.2 million. He can earn more than that through any incentives in the contract, but the Giants will only be on the hook for the $1.2 million.
With this deal, the Giants are expected to have roughly $5 million in salary-cap space, per Over The Cap.
