Jadon Sancho is on loan at Dortmund from Man United

Manchester United are benefitting from a significant financial windfall after Borussia Dortmund triggered another payment for Jadon Sancho by reaching the Champions League semi-final.

United sent Sancho on loan to his former club in January, with Dortmund paying an up-front fee of €3.5million, with a further €4m in potential add-ons, for the England international’s services.

According to the MEN, a United source has indicated that the Red Devils have now earned a significant bonus from the Bundesliga giants following their Champions League quarter-final victory over Atletico Madrid.

And, should Edin Terzic’s Dortmund beat the odds by getting the better of Paris Saint-Germain over two legs in the semis, Manchester United will earn even more.

Sancho has played his part in Dortmund’s run to the semis, with the 24-year-old starring in both legs of the quarter-final win and the last-16 victory over PSV Eindhoven, where he even scored in the return fixture.

Sancho fell out of favour at United and was banished from the first team after taking to social media to dispute his boss Erik ten Hag’s claim that the forward was dropped from the matchday squad to play Arsenal due to his poor performances in training.

The Red Devils have so far recovered Sancho’s wages for the second half of the season, but will recover them entirely should Dortmund trigger every bonus in his loan contract.

The extra finances boost United’s hopes of complying with financial fair play and the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, which other top-flight clubs have fallen foul of this season.

Sancho will return to United after June 30 when his loan deal at Dortmund expires. The Red Devils are still expected to sell the forward they paid £73million for in the summer but it’s unclear whether he’ll return to BVB.
