Despite boasting plenty of talent of reliable veterans in the back end, the Philadelphia Eagles’ secondary played like one of the worst units in the league during the team’s late-season.
Coaching was certainly in question after an abysmal end to the year, but it’s hard to ignore the personnel issues the Eagles had. So in a recent mock draft from CBS Sports, Philadelphia addresses those issues by snagging one of the best defensive backs in the 2024 class.

The site predicts Philadelphia to select Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry at No. 22 overall. He’s the third CB off the board in this particular mock, with Crimson Tide teammate Terrion Arnold being the first defensive back selected at No. 13 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Here’s what CBS Sports had to say about Philly’s pick:
“The Eagles absolutely need to address their secondary early in the draft, and McKinstry has long looked like a future first-round pick on the field,” the site wrote.
During three seasons at Alabama, McKinstry posted 93 total tackles, two sacks, 23 passes defended and two interceptions. He also returned 37 punts for 418 yards.
The Eagles already have some promising young pieces in the secondary. Adding McKinstry to the fold alongside 2023 draft picks Kelee Ringo and Sydney Brown gives Philly talent to build around with veterans James Bradberry and Darius Slay nearing the end of their careers.
