Texas is the projected leader for four-star running back James Simon, according to On3’s Justin Wells.
Simon is the No. 9 running in the 2025 class and No. 4 player in Louisiana, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He attends Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) believes that Simon’s top schools are currently LSU and Texas. He also holds offers from schools like Notre Dame, Alabama, TCU, and multiple other Power 4 programs.
The Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 9 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC. Texas already holds a commitment from four-star running back Rickey Stewart Jr. The class is headlined by four-star EDGE Lance Jackson and four-star linebacker Elijah Barnes.
Simon finished his junior season with 1,600 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns, earning first-team All-State and All-District honors.
Texas will transition to the SEC this season, and landing Simon could be an important step in building a SEC contender. The Longhorns have landed three consecutive Top 10 recruiting classes and are on track to extend the streak to four straight seasons.
Texas football has produced some top-tier NFL talent at running back. Players like Earl Campbell, Rickey Williams, Cedric Benson, and Jamaal Charles have all come through Austin.
