Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently unveiled a new logo for Thunderbolts at CinemaCon 2024. He also confirmed the superhero movie’s official title, which has left more than a few scratching their heads in confusion.
In late March, Florence Pugh shared a cryptic video from the set of Thunderbolts. At the time, many fans noticed that the Thunderbolts logo spotted in the video included an asterisk at the end. This led to several theories that Thunderbolts would be getting a title change. However, Feige dismissed that notion during Marvel Studios’ CinemaCon presentation, stating (via Screen Rant), “Yes, you’ll notice the asterisk on Thunderbolts. That is the official title of Thunderbolts and we won’t talk more about that until after the movie comes out.” An updated logo for Thunderbolts* was also shared, revealing that the original’s brown and chunky lettering had been replaced with a cleaner, yellow font. Feige also confirmed that the movie will be fully filmed for IMAX.

Who Is Part of the Thunderbolts?
The initial lineup for the Thunderbolts includes Pugh’s Yelena Belova/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Black Widow characters Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Ava Starr/Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), who appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the current director of the CIA in the MCU, being responsible for bringing the team together.
Although Feige has described the Winter Soldier as the “de facto leader” of the Thunderbolts, the character will reportedly not be part of the team when it first assembles. This news comes from trusted insider Daniel Richtman, who states that Bucky Barnes will reject Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s offer to join the team “at least at the start.” While plot details remain largely under wraps, Richtman noted that the footage shown in Pugh’s set video is from a scene in the movie where The Sentry (Lewis Pullman) is found in a vault.
