Leafs force Game 7 in Boston
The Leafs live to play another night, taking down the Bruins in game six to 4th, a 7th and deciding game in Boston. Let’s go live now to our Lindsay Dunn in Maple Leaf Square with full highlights of Game 6. Lindsay. Emotions were high inside Scotiabank Arena behind me, but also in Maple Leaf Square. At that tailgate, party fans still clearing out elated over what happened. Am I talking about Bruins fans? Leafs fans? Hey, there’s two storylines going into tonight’s game. The Bruins last season blew A31 series lead. They did not want to relive that history. And the Leafs? They wanted to push it to game seven and take it to Boston. Here’s a look at what happened. It was a packed house inside Scotiabank Arena for the pivotal game six. Obviously a big storyline. No Austin Matthews in the lineup midway through the first period. Leafs on the odd man rush. Marner has a great chance, but just puts it wide to keep it at 0. Jump to the end of the first. A mad scramble by the Leafs knee. Landers backhander is denied. Swayman stops the rebound. We’re scoreless through 20 minutes to the second period after the Leafs squandered a 4 minute power play. Boston finally gets a chance. They had just three shots up to this point on net when Pasternak puts it on goal, but Wolf stops him to keep the Bees at Bay and then right near the end of the period and now nee Lander’s got it twisting away from Beecher in the final minute of the second stars. William nee Lander, nee Lander, puts it on goal, gets to traffic and pass Jeremy Swayman to break the tie and give the Leafs A1 zip lead after two periods of play to the third. It was intense with both teams getting multiple chances on net but guess who strikes again. I think before the playoffs even started we we want to make sure that our belief never wavered and sometimes you know sometimes the game tests you and and puts you down three, one and and things like that. So I’ve just been really proud of you know the faith of the group has held on to lastly all you know is elimination games in the playoffs. How are you handling it all? Yeah, you know, just trying to do my best each time I go out there and, you know, just enjoy the experience. Such a gift. So Leafs goaltender Joseph Wall became the first goalie in NHL Stanley Cup Playoff history to register each of his first three or career postseason wins and potential elimination games. And Melissa, We do not know if he’s going to play in Saturday in Boston, but the chances are pretty good, and that’s a great stat to have on his resume right now. I know on the minds of many, as well as whether or not Austin Matthews will be available for game seven. Have you heard anything about that? Oh, you better believe the players were asked about it in the Leafs locker room. They’re pretty mum on this. We know he missed today’s game and he also missed game five with an undisclosed illness. They’re keeping pretty tight lipped on this, so we are not going to know in true Leafs fashion until Saturday’s game. Sorry to disappoint, but I do not have an answer because nobody will tell us. Oh gosh, OK, well, like, I guess fingers crossed that he’ll be back and we can get another win and finally beat Boston. Thanks Lindsay. Those are good vibes to put out there anytime.
