Who is Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti's stunning girlfriend Clara Wong?

With awards season well under way, we’re starting to see the same familiar faces – who aren’t necessarily famous themselves- frequently on the red carpet.

One such person has been steadfast on the arm of Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti, his girlfriend Clara Wong.

Paul is a phenomenal actor and his role as Paul Hunham in The Holdovers has earned him so many plaudits already. Accepting the Critics Choice Award back in January he even gave her a special shout out in his acceptance speech.

‘I want to say. I love my beautiful girlfriend Clara Wong. Why you bother with me, I don’t know why!’ he said jokingly to the rven haired beauty.

It’s not clear when they started dating, but Clara is an actor too and the pair did work together on the set of Showtime’s Billions in 2016- although they only made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Palm Springs International Film Festival at the start of 2024.

Clara has some fairly heavy duty credits on her own acting CV, including The I-Land, What We Do in the Shadows and Dear Edward as well as Billions.

She had a recurring role as Troy, opposite Paul’s character U.S. Attourney Chuck Rhoades. In the show, she played a dominatrix who he regularly visited.

While it’s not clear if the romance moved off screen between the pair at the time, they’ve always been close. In October 2019 she was by his side for the unveiling of the Paul Giamatti Fundraiser forthe Denali Foundation at the Yale Club.

She also posted a dimly lit photo of what appears to be Paul alongside a fish emoji in August 2020. Then in March 2021 she also shared a shot from the set of Billions.

But it wasn’t til June that year that she went Insta official, wishing her beau a happy birthday. Since then, her posts have become more regular, with her most recent birthday message reading ‘Happy birthday to this sweet soul’ again alongside fish emojis and a photo of Paul smiling.

Clara looked sensational as she attended the BAFTAs with Paul on Sunday night wearing a stunning full-length black down, with a gorgeous ruching detail over one shoulder and her hair long and straight. We can’t wait to see what she chooses for the Oscars in March!
