Report: Seahawks hosting Cooper DeJean on pre-draft visit
With the 2024 NFL Draft little more than a week away, teams across the NFL are whittling down their draft board and working on the final tweaks to set their rankings. The Combine is a distant memory and Pro Days have faded into the past, but pre-draft visits for prospects remain, and the Seattle Seahawks appear to be hosting one of the highest ranked defensive backs available in the draft this year.
The Seahawks surprised many by using their 2023 first round pick on cornerback Devon Witherspoon, and while injuries slowed him during the offseason and training camp, Witherspoon’s rookie season was an unquestioned success. Now, Seattle is hosting the top rated defensive back in the 2024 draft class, at least according to Cooper DeJean’s social media.
DeJean, however, is not just a defensive back, as he also returned punts during college, averaging 13.1 yards per return, including a 70-yard touchdown return against Michigan State in 2023. The Seahawks are in the market for a new punt returner, after the only player to return punts for the Hawks in 2023, DeeJay Dallas, signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent in March.
