A Texas cop’s beloved German Shepard got an emotional send-off after nine years of service on the force.
The pup, known as K9 Indy, retired on Tuesday and his owner, Sergeant Barry Sullivan with the Trophy Club Police Department, made sure his partner got a proper goodbye.
Sullivan posted the video of Indy’s final call to his TikTok page bgsully that has more than 380,000 followers and said in the caption, ‘After 9 years with this handsome fella, he gets to enjoy retirement at home with me and my family!’
As he calls in to have Indy’s retirement send-off announced, Sullivan tries his best to hold back tears and not ‘ugly cry.’
While the duo waits for the call to start, Indy licks the sergeant’s face as he pets his head.

The pup, known as K9 Indy, retired on Tuesday and his owner, Sergeant Barry Sullivan with the Trophy Club Police Department posted a video of it on TikTok
‘After nine years of dedicated service, K9 Indy, badge number K9-1, is retiring and signing off for his final shift,’ the dispatcher says.
‘K9 Indy has made a significant impact in our communities by seizing over two kilos of powdered fentanyl, more than 4,000 pounds of marijuana, in addition to 35 pounds of methamphetamine and more,’ she continues.
As the announcement comes through the radio, Sullivan continues to pet the pup who seems to listen to his send-off.
‘He’s been instrumental in seizing over $300,000 in drug money and has participated in over 11 SWAT deployments,’ she says.
Halfway through the emotional tribute, Indy moves to the back of the cop car before his loyal owner says: ‘come her buddy’ as the dog moves back to the front.
‘He has assisted in 44 criminal apprehensions, including a noble recent apprehension of a criminal gang member.’
‘Indy has educated many in conducting over 50 K9 demos for public schools, demonstrating his skills and dedication.’
As she says this, the dog lays back down before his partner greets him with a treat and gets him to pay attention again.
Sergeant Sullivan and K9 Indy has been by each other side for nine years and now that the pup has retired, he will spend time at home with his partner and family
The police department also posted the emotional and heartwarming video to their Facebook page and said that Indy will be honored at a Town Council meeting on May 13th at the city’s town hall
The dispatcher continues and says, ‘Throughout his tenure, Indy has assisted in over 38 local and federal law enforcement agencies, serving as an ambassador to the community, and a trusted partner and friend to his handler, Sergeant Barry Sullivan.’
As she says this, the sergeant and his dedicated pup share a moment where Sullivan wraps his arm around the dogs head as Indy licks his face.
‘Indy has always answered the call, no matter the hour, to assist officers in our county and beyond.’
‘Thank you K9 Indy for your service and love for the job you’ve done to protect and serve.’
‘From all of us, to you Indy, we wish you a happy retirement.’
‘K9 Indy, you are 10-42 for the final time,’ the dispatcher said as the announcement ended.
With a moment of silence after the call, Sullivan pets his dog and says, ‘Good job buddy, good job,’ as he sniffles.
He then picks up his radio, looks at Indy and says, ‘What do you say?’

‘Let’s come together to express our gratitude for his service and wish him a happy and peaceful retirement,’ the post said.
‘Please mark your calendars and help us give Officer Indy the send-off he truly deserves.’
Commenters flooded under the video with one writing, ‘Officer Sullivan you did good holding it together. We know this was a rough one.’
