Spring football has wrapped up around the country, meaning its time for Joel Klatt to update his preseason top 25 rankings.
The transfer portal is closed, but with more player movement happening over the next few months, these rankings are bound to change by the time the season begins.
For now though, Klatt revealed on his show Monday that Ohio State is his No. 1 team, despite having a still unsettled quarterback situation.
“It means the quarterback does not have to be elite, so whether it’s Will Howard, or Devin Brown, or one of the young guys, the quarterback’s not going to have to go out there and be the centerpiece of this team or this offense,” Klatt explained. “And that’s an important part of trying to break in a quarterback, in particular in Columbus where expectations can weigh heavy in particular on the head coach and on the quarterback.”
After Ohio State, Klatt has Georgia, Texas, Oregon and Ole Miss rounding out his top five.
Klatt’s full top 10 is as follows:
- Ohio State
- Georgia
- Texas
- Oregon
- Ole Miss
- Utah
- Alabama
- Michigan
- Penn State
- Missouri
If you’re scoring at home, every one of these teams, except for Utah (Big 12) comes from the Big Ten or SEC.
Independent Notre Dame and Florida State and Clemson out of the ACC are ranked 11th-through-13th.
