ocean county school closings, delayed openings due to snow for friday (jan. 19, 2024)

Monday,  February 19, 2021 – File snow school bus

Ocean County school districts have started calling for closures and delayed openings for Friday day due to a winter storm expected to drop 3 to 6 inches of snow across much of New Jersey.

The heaviest snow is expected during the school day from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, according to the latest updates from the National Weather Service. The weather service had issued alerts for 15 counties ahead of the storm.

The school closures are the third time this week districts have had to make weather-related changes to schedules. A snowstorm that that started Monday evening forced closures and delays Tuesday. Hundreds of delays were also announced on Wednesday due to icing.
