Mets Daily Prospect Report, 4/22/24: Big-leaguers on the mend
Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (10-9)
CANCELLED (RAIN)
Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (6-8)
READING 5, BINGHAMTON 4 (BOX)
The lone loss on the day, Binghamton built a lead in the middle innings but coughed it up in the final-third. Blade Tidwell was the culprit, though he was hurt by a passed ball by Kevin Parada. On the offensive side, there weren’t any standout performances – lots of singles, lots of 1-for-4 days. Of note, Jett Williams made another throwing error from short – really seems like his arm is better suited for second (where he’ll still be plenty valuable).
High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (7-8)
BROOKLYN 5, JERSEY SHORE 2 (BOX)
Brooklyn won while scoring more runs (5) than they had hits (4) because they walked a whopping ELEVEN times and scored twice on two passed balls. Just a really weird game all around. The pitching was particularly good – Sproat didn’t have his best stuff in this start – but they were cleaner than the Blue Claw’s staff and that was enough. Ryan Clifford continues to whiff, btu walked four times in this one. Last week’s hero Nick Lorusso managed three walks himself.
Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (7-8)
ST. LUCIE 8, TAMPA 4 (BOX)
St. Lucie score three in the first, fifth in the second, and cruised after that. Colin Houck had a good game out of the leadoff spot and Jesus Baez continued his hot start as well. Base part of this game though was J.D. Martinez, who had a double as part of a 2-for-3 day. He seems on track to join the major league team before too much longer here.
STAR OF THE NIGHT
J.D. Martinez
GOAT OF THE NIGHT
Blade Tidwell
