ilaiyaraaja sends copyright infringement notice to sun pictures over rajinikanths coolie teaser reports
If reports doing the rounds are to be believed, one of India’s top music directors Ilaiyaraaja has sent a copyright infringement notice to Sun Pictures, the production house producing director Lokesh Kanakaraj’s upcoming film Coolie, featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, over the film’s recently released teaser.
The Title Teaser of Coolie
The teaser, which was released by the unit to announce the title of the film as Coolie, had Rajinikanth stylishly bashing up baddies hoarding gold. The background score for the teaser had D I S C O being sung in such a way that it gave the impression that the score was a reworked version of the song ‘vaa vaa pakkam vaa’ from Thangamagan, one of Rajinikanth’s earlier films for which Ilaiyaraaja had scored the music.
Ilaiyaraaja’s Contention
Ilaiyaraaja has now sent a sent a notice to Sun Pictures that they must either take proper permission from him to feature the music of the song Va Va Pakkam Va in their teaser or must remove that music from the title teaser of Coolie.
