IKEA opens branch in West of Ireland as it continues expansion into Irish market

Swedish furniture giant IKEA is taking another massive step to anchor itself in the Irish market by opening up a new location in in the West of Ireland.

The Plan and Order Point launches in Co Sligo at 9am on Friday, the sixth such centre opened by the company in Ireland.

The other five points are located in Cork, Drogheda, Carlow, Dublin’s St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre and Naas.

The opening of the new Plan and Order Point in The Canopy (formerly Johnston Court Shopping Centre), Sligo comes as IKEA continues to invest in lowering its prices, taking the total number of products with long-term reduced prices to over 2,200.

These points are specialised outlets where customers can access bespoke kitchen and wardrobe planning services, as well as in-depth home furnishing advice and expertise in designing, purchasing, and installing their ideal kitchens, bedrooms and other furnishings.

The Sligo store will showcase six different kitchens and two PAX wardrobe solutions, while having a home furnishing planning area and an appliance studio.

Customers will be able to drop-in or book an appointment to start their design with one of the four IKEA design specialists working in the store. Products can then be ordered from across the full IKEA range for delivery direct to the customer’s home or a location of their choice and appointments can be made via the IKEA website.

Martyn Allan, Market Manager, IKEA Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to introduce a slice of Swedish design and affordable home solutions to new areas of Ireland, where we haven’t previously been physically present. Our Plan and Order Points are the perfect spot to craft your dream kitchen without breaking the bank, offering a 25-year guarantee on all kitchens.”

He continued: “Beyond kitchen planning, these locations serve as an ideal hub for assisting individuals who live a distance from our Ballymun store, whether they’re looking to order a new sofa, wardrobe, or any other IKEA product.”

Meanwhile, IKEA is in the midst of extensive price cuts across its range of products as over 2,200 products across its Living Room, Bathroom, Bedroom ranges and more have been reduced, serving as a long-term change to pricing of items which fall within this category.

The company also opened its new Customer Distribution Centre in Rathcoole, Dublin on Wednesday which vows to herald reduced delivery times of 2-3 days after previously being between 7-10 days.
