Harry Styles ‘ stalker has been jailed and banned from seeing him perform.
Myra Carvalho, 35, appeared at Harrow Crown Court sitting at Hendon Magistrates’ Court in London and was said to have stalked the former One Direction star by sending him 8,000 cards in less than a month. She was sentenced to 14 weeks’ imprisonment after pleading guilty on Tuesday to a charge of stalking involving serious alarm or distress, a court official said.
A restraining order lasting for 10 years was also imposed on Carvalho who was also told she cannot attend any event where Harry Styles is performing. Carvalho, who had been staying at a backpacker hostel in Kensington and Chelsea, south west London, was also ordered not to contact Harry Styles, directly or indirectly.

She has been told not to enter an area of north west London which was described in the court, the official added. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £134 (€157). Speaking in court in February, Alejandra Llorente Tascon, prosecuting, said: “She sent a total of 8,000 cards in one month. Some [were] hand-delivered and others were delivered via a third party company online.
“This defendant has travelled all the way from Brazil, and has frequently and to an extremely intense nature [harassed Styles] by sending over 8,000 cards and describing sexual urges towards him. She has a partner [in Brazil]… It also causes great concern to the complainant. She hand-delivered letters and wedding cards.”

Carvalho expressed ‘sexual urges’ towards 30-year-old actor and singer Styles, the court heard. Her barrister, Clementine Simon, told the court that Carvalho’s doctor in Brazil believed that she was suffering from a ‘manic episode’ and questioned if she was fit to enter a plea.
Her parents, who both attended the plea and trial preparation hearing, did not know she had travelled to the country, the court was told. They both wept in court as they saw their daughter appear via video link from HMP Bronzefield wearing a black coat and gloves, she spoke only to confirm her name during the short hearing and did not indicate a plea.
Of the 8,000 cards sent by Carvalho, some were wedding cards, prosecutors said. Two of the letters were hand-delivered to Mr Styles’ address, after she had been staying at a backpacker hostel in Earls Court, west London, having been in the UK since December. In January, Highbury Corner magistrates’ court heard that Styles was left ‘shaken’ when he was harassed by Carvalho. She was told she “knew, or ought to have known, your course of conduct would cause alarm or distress”.
Harry Styles shot to fame when he appeared on the X Factor back in 2010 and formed part of One Direction. He’s gone on to have a successful solo career with chart-topping hits alongside an acting career.
