Die Klimaaktivistin Greta Thunberg ist wegen einer Blockade vor dem schwedischen Parlament verurteilt worden (siehe Video oben). Sie muss umgerechnet etwa 600 Euro zahlen, ein Teil davon sind Schadenersatz und Zinsen.

Die Polizei hatte die 21-Jährige am 12. und 14. März weggetragen, nachdem sie sich geweigert hatte, den Haupteingang des Parlaments in Stockholm zu verlassen. Sie hatte mit einer kleinen Gruppe mehrere Tage lang protestiert. Die Abgeordneten konnten das Gebäude aber weiterhin über Nebeneingänge betreten.

Thunberg bestritt den Vorwurf des zivilen Ungehorsams in beiden Fällen am Mittwoch vor Gericht. „Weil es einen Klimanotstand gab und gibt“, begründete die Schwedin, warum sie den Anordnungen der Polizei nicht folgte. „Und in einer Notsituation haben wir alle die Pflicht, zu handeln.“

„Gesetze schützen Rohstoffindustrie“

„Die derzeitigen Gesetze schützen die Rohstoffindustrie, anstatt die Menschen und den Planeten zu schützen, was meiner Meinung nach der Fall sein sollte“, sagte die Aktivistin weiter. Thunberg wurde bereits im Juli und Oktober 2023 wegen zivilen Ungehorsams bei ähnlichen Protesten zu einer Geldstrafe verurteilt.

Die junge Frau hatte als 15-jährige Schülerin damit begonnen, sich freitags vor das schwedische Parlament in Stockholm zu setzen und auf diese Weise für mehr Klimaschutz zu demonstrieren. Ihr Schulstreik weitete sich zur globalen Protestbewegung Fridays For Future aus. Thunberg beendete die Streiks nach ihrem Schulabschluss, nimmt aber noch regelmäßig an Klimaprotesten und anderen Demonstrationen teil.
