The Chronicles of Narnia vet William Moseley breaks his silence regarding Netflixs upcoming Narnia reboot with director Greta Gerwig.

Gerwig’s The Chronicles of Narnia reboot was split into two films, with her involvement as the director and writer confirmed last July while promoting her hit fantasy comedy, Barbie. The Chronicles of Narnia has hit the big screen before, thanks to installments such as 2005’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, 2008’s Prince Caspian and 2010’s The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was the most successful adaptation, grossing $745 million worldwide against a $180 million budget, winning an Academy Award and garnering a 75% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Chronicles of Narnia Will Be Rebooted

The Chronicles of Narnia films will be based on C.S. Lewis’ acclaimed children’s novel series, though details on what story direction the movies will go in are being kept under wraps. Gerwig has admitted the stress she’s felt about penning the screenplay for The Chronicles of Narnia flicks, claiming the project has been “giving her nightmares.” However, she has also expressed her excitement about adapting the famed children’s books and putting her spin on them.

There’s no word on the cast for The Chronicles of Narnia reboot films ahead of production. However, one of the stars of the original film trilogy recently publicized his dismay about not featuring in the reinterpretation. William Moseley, who portrayed Peter Pevensie in the trilogy, revealed how “sad” he was about not appearing, but expressed hope he would be a part of the set when production begins.

Gerwig is coming off the widespread critical and commercial success of Barbie, which was the highest-grossing film of 2023 and the biggest earner ever for Warner Bros. ($1.44 billion worldwide), sparking conversations about a potential sequel. Gerwig is also known for directing Lady Bird and Little Women, with the former earning her a Best Director Academy Award nomination.

There is no release date as yet for The Chronicles of Narnia reboot films.
