History was made on Saturday afternoon as Cherry Hill East head coach Dave Allen joined an exclusive club, winning his 400th career game in a 49-43 victory for the Cougars over host Woodbury.
Allen is just the 23rd head coach in South Jersey boys basketball history to reach the milestone.
In 13 years at Cherry Hill East, Allen has compiled a 236-126 record. In his 25-year coaching career, Allen owns a 400-275 record.
Allen is a 1989 graduate of Cherry Hill East, and in 2014 guided his alma mater to a 22-7 record and the South, Group 4 sectional title – the program’s first sectional championship. The Cougars went on to win the 2015 title as well.
“I want to thank all the players, coaches, administrators, managers, and students from Eastern, Cherry Hill West, and Cherry Hill East,” Allen said. “And I want to especially thank Coach John Valore, for giving me the opportunity to coach.“
The Cougars (13-15) led Woodbury by two points going into the fourth quarter but were able to close out strong thanks to a 12-8 run. Caleb Jackson and Josh Davis each dropped 11 points, while Sebastian Perry added 10.
For Woodbury (14-13), RJ Heigler finished with 24 points and Jasuan Solomon had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
