Russia could be ready to launch a military attack on NATO members in five to eight years. However, first, it needs to restore its forces after the war in Ukraine, states Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer.
“By then, based on our analysis, Russia (will have) reconstituted its own forces to a degree that an attack against NATO soil could be possible,” said General.
He clarified that he wasn’t saying this would happen necessarily, but he allowed for this possibility.
Talk of a possible Russian attack on NATO members
Talks about a possible Russian attack on NATO members have become more frequent among military officials and officials from the North Atlantic Alliance lately. Meanwhile, the Kremlin tries to deny such intentions.
Business Insider wrote that German intelligence services prepared an analysis of Russian military threats for the government, according to which Russia could attack NATO territory “from 2026 onwards”.
Additionally, a representative of Estonian intelligence reported that Russia is already preparing for the next war. According to him, this involves a conflict with NATO over the next ten years.
Polish President Andrzej Duda publicly expressed the opinion that the Russian Federation may soon restore its military potential and attack NATO countries as early as 2026.
