Geórgia aprova "lei da influência estrangeira" após semanas de protestos

O Parlamento da antiga república soviética da Geórgia aprovou hoje uma lei controversa sobre a “influência estrangeira”, que está na origem de fortes manifestações de protesto violentamente reprimidas pela polícia.

A lei foi aprovado em segunda leitura com 83 votos a favor e 23 contra. O partido no poder na Geórgia pretende adotar definitivamente esta lei, que está na origem de três semanas de protestos as ruas que a polícia tem reprimido com violência.

Pelo menos 63 pessoas foram detidas na noite passada em Tbilissi, a capital da Geórgia, em mais uma jornada de protestos contra a chamada “lei dos agentes estrangeiros”, que durou quase seis horas e em que ficaram feridos seis polícias.

“Os participantes no protesto atiraram vários objetos pesados, incluindo garrafas e pedras, contra os agentes”, disse o ministro do Interior da Geórgia, Alexandr Darajvelidze, em conferência de imprensa.

De acordo com o governante, as forças de segurança tiveram de utilizar meios especiais para dispersar a manifestação quando esta assumiu um “caráter violento”.

Entre os feridos durante o protesto encontra-se também um dos líderes da oposição georgiana, Leván Jabeishveli.

Os manifestantes tentaram, na terça-feira, bloquear o edifício do parlamento, fortemente vigiado pela polícia de choque, que utilizou gás lacrimogéneo para dispersar os opositores.

Os manifestantes gritavam “Não à lei russa!” e “Geórgia!” enquanto atiravam ovos à polícia.

A repressão das manifestações foi criticada hoje pelo chefe da diplomacia da União Europeia (UE), Josep Borrell, que condenou “veementemente a violência” das forças de segurança contra manifestantes, considerando “inaceitável” o recurso à força para conter protestos pacíficos.

Os protestos na Geórgia contra a “lei de transparência da influência estrangeira”, que os deputados aprovaram hoje numa segunda leitura, começaram há mais de duas semanas.

Ao mesmo tempo, os apoiantes do Governo reuniram na segunda-feira dezenas de milhares de pessoas na capital da Geórgia em apoio à política do executivo.
