Gardai arrest seven men and seize 30 vehicles in major Dublin drugs and motor crime crackdown

Gardai have arrested seven men and seized more than 30 vehicles as part of a crackdown on drugs and motor crime in Dublin.

Officers involved in the operation in the Finglas area also seized drugs, weapons and cash.

Gardaí said the day of action on Tuesday was to seize vehicles suspected of involvement in dangerous driving incidents within the Garda K District that covers Finglas – and to disrupt the drugs trade in the area.

The raid involved local uniformed gardaí as well as drugs unit officers, detectives, and specialists from the roads policing unit.

Some 50 gardaí were involved in the operation and 44 searches were carried out.

Gardaí said they seized:

• three high-powered motorbikes

• nine scrambler motorbikes

• there quad bikes

• one moped

• eight e-scooters

• two e-bikes

• five cars.

They also seized a bolt action rifle, €5,100 of cocaine and cannabis, €1585 in cash, as well as an axe and baseball bat. The seven men who were arrested have been charged with a variety of drugs, road traffic and theft offences.

Day of Action Targeting Vehicles and Related Criminal Activity, K District, Dublin – 16th April 2024 Gardaí in the K District conducted a Day of Action yesterday, Tuesday, 16th April 2024, resulting in the seizure of 31 vehicles, quantities of drugs and a number of weapons. Gardaí made seven arrests.

The local Garda commander said the operation was aimed at keeping the community safe.

Chief Superintendent Michael McNulty said: “The actions today of local Gardaí supported by colleagues from the Dublin region and Dublin City Council will provide reassurance to our communities that we will continually tackle criminality and antisocial behaviour with the ultimate aim of keeping people safe”.
