Tesco and Morrisons have recalled health products due to them potentially containing a microbiological contamination

Supermarket giant Tesco has issued the recall notice for Vizulize Irritated Eye Mist. The 10ml product, owned by EM Pharma, is designed to “soothe and relieve” irritated or itchy eyes caused by hay fever, dust, or pollution. A microbiological contamination is where microbial agents such as bacteria, viruses, chemicals or parasites is unintentionally introduced into the product.

Tesco has not confirmed what the contamination is but has warned people not to use the product as a “precaution”. The batches of Vizulize Irritated Eye Mist which are affected have the best before dates of February 2026 and April 2026 with the following batch codes:

• EM233926

Tesco has appeared to remove the eye mist product – which cost £6 – from its website although it does have other Vizulize products listed including its Vizulize Irritated Eye Drops 10ml and the Vizulize Dual Moist All In One Lens Solution 360ml. Those who have purchased the affected products can return them to any Tesco store for a full refund – you will not need a receipt.

Morrisons has also issued a recall for its own brand of eye mist due to a potential microbiological contamination. Again customers who have bought the affected product should not use it and return it to their local Morrisons store for a full refund – they will not need a receipt. The products affected have the best before dates of December 2025, January 2026, February 2026, and April 2026. The following batch codes are affected:

What are recall notices?

Products can be recalled for a range of different reasons including safety – if a product displays risks for the customer – or quality – when the product isn’t working as it should be. The Food Standards Agency is in charge of issuing alerts when there is a problem with a food product. The product can either be “withdrawn” which is where is it taken off the shelves or “recalled” which is when customers are asked to return it.

Food products need to be recalled if they are found to have been contaminated with pathogens that could cause food poisoning, or if plastic or metal has been found in the product due to manufacturing faults. Food items also need to be recalled if any allergen information is missing or incorrect.
